Discharged!

24 hours after her surgery Willa is discharged. So glad to be holding up at Tri Delta. -Jim

Part II
It's been a busy day. Willa recovered so quickly that she was discharged this morning, instead of the usual 3-4 days needed. She's still very sore, and didn't get much sleep last night in the hospital because of her pain level. She's slowly improving, but pain can make you feel like it won't ever go away, which is what she's experiencing now. Even so, she's glad to be sleeping in a comfortable bed now. It's exhausting to recuperate in a hospital bed!🙂 -Jody

Friday, May 26 Update

Willa's surgery went very smoothly today. It only lasted two hours instead of the 4.5 hours estimated. She was awake and standing within two hours afterwards, and ate a snack, small lunch, and dinner. Willa walked around the entire floor five hours post surgery, and her pain level at the incision is about a 4 out of 10. There's even a chance she'll be discharged tomorrow afternoon if she maintains this level of recovery. She's spending a lot of time on FaceTime and Roblox with her friends, which is a great distraction. We were up at 4:00 this morning, so I'm wiped out, but she's going strong, albeit with some pain. We've reassured her that it will get better, and regaled her with stories of our injuries when she complains that we don't know how she's feeling. 😉 Love to you all!❤️ -Jody

With so many people not doing any social media I’m starting this page for what is up with Willa. You have the link and can check back anytime. Please do not share this blog link. It is on the web but not listed on any search engine or directory or menu on my site. -Jim

Willa's craniotomy with open biopsy is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 8:30. The neurosurgeon will go in through the same incision made in previous resections, and the procedure should last about three hours. She shouldn't have much swelling in her brain since they're not removing the tumor, just taking a sample from it. She'll stay in the hospital about 3 days, then recover at Tri Delta Place until next Thursday, when the neurosurgeon will hopefully clear her to travel. If so, we'll drive home next Friday.

We will update here as we can. We're hopeful and in good spirits, confident in the team that will be taking care of Willa. -Jody
